INVITATION TO TENDER: CRICKHOWELL CASTLE


Crickhowell Town Council is seeking to appoint a qualified conservation professional to prepare tender documentation, act as the Principal Designer, and administer the contract for specific restoration works to Crickhowell Castle. 


Crickhowell Town Council invites you to quote for a programme of vegetation removal and localised masonry repairs to Crickhowell Castle [Cadw scheduled monument no. BR111].  The specification outlines the requirements for the restoration of Crickhowell Castle with a schedule of works required. Prospective professionals should review and adhere to these requirements when submitting their proposals for consideration.

Costs

Please tender for anticipated costs to complete work, not exceeding £10,000 (exc. VAT). 


Submission of tenders

  • All tenders shall be submitted as follows, to arrive no later than Friday 11 July at 1700 hours.

  • Tenders will be received up to the time and date stated.  Those received before the due date will be retained unopened until then.  It is the responsibility of the tenderer to ensure that their tender is delivered no later than the appointed time.  Receipt of electronic copies will be acknowledged by the Clerk but not forwarded on to Council members until after the time and date stated.


  • Crickhowell Town Council shall not be obliged to accept the lowest or any tender.


  • Canvassing of staff, members or of any committee, directly or indirectly, for any appointment under the Council shall disqualify the candidate from the tender process. 


  • Council will respond to all tenders by Friday 18 July at 1700 hours.

                                                                                               

  • If having read the specification you decide not to submit a tender, we would be grateful if you could send your reasons (though you are under no obligation to do so) to the Clerk to the Council at the above address marked 'No Tender'.


Contract Period

The work should be completed not more than six months after the award of tender.


Sub-contracting

Following award, the successful tenderer shall not sub-contract or sub-let all or any part of the contract. The successful tenderer shall remain wholly responsible for carrying out and completing the contract. 


Confidentiality

Please note the following requirements, you must not:


  • Tell anyone else what your tender price is or will be, before the time limit for delivery of tenders.
  • Try to obtain any information about anyone else's tender or proposed tender before the time limit for delivery of tenders.
  • ·Make any arrangements with another organisation about whether or not they should tender, or about their or your tender price.

Failure to comply with these conditions may disqualify your tender.


Basis of the Contract

The specification, together with any special requirements, will form the basis of the contract between the successful tenderer and the Town Council.


Costs and Expenses

You will not be entitled to claim from the Town Council any costs or expenses which you may incur in preparing your tender whether or not your tender is successful.


Terms of Engagement

After appointment, the successful tenderer will be expected to write to the Town Council outlining their terms of engagement.

Local Places for Nature - Community & Town Council Nature Recovery Grants Programme

 

Crickhowell Town Council has been successful in applying to the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority for 100% funding through the Local Nature Partnership. The funding, worth £11,500, is to help nature recovery and to encourage people within the community to connect to nature, ideally involving local volunteers.

PLACE PLAN REPORT

Launch 24 August 2024


We are pleased to share the results of the Place Plan consultations which have taken place over the last year.   The Plan highlights the key areas that the community want to be developed and some suggestions of steps to be taken.  The Council launched the Place Plan at the Duck Race on 24 August 2024 in Bullpit Meadow, and hard copies are in the Library and CRIC.

UPDATED GRANT APPLICATION FORM
August 2024


Each year Crickhowell Town Council ring-fences an amount of their budget for making grants to support non-profit-making local organisations. They can provide one-off grants up to a maximum of £500 to organisations based within the community of Crickhowell, which demonstrate appropriate match-funding and fit with the wider Place Plan objectives (see documents in links above).

 

A Crickhowell Town Council grant is normally available only to groups or organisations which demonstrate that they have made serious attempts to raise money by other means and sources, including their own fund-raising activities.
